This foundation mandates accreditation for all youth coaches, with the goal to expand to all 50 states.
Started in early 2010, when Dr. Andrews was the President of the AOSSM (American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine).
Members of the Society’s Board of Directors, including STOP Sports Injuries co-campaign chair and renowned orthopaedic surgeon, James R. Andrews, MD, decided that the issue of overuse injuries in young athletes was becoming a critical issue for its members to address.
Today the program is championed by the National Council of Youth Sports under the guidance of AOSSM.
